Supported formats and limitations
Common browser-decodable image formats are supported, including JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF first frame, BMP and AVIF where available. Output formats depend on browser encoder support. Target file size is best-effort; image content and browser codecs affect output size. HEIC/HEIF support varies by browser. Large images may use significant memory.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Image decoding, cropping and export happen locally in your browser. Analytics and external site scripts may still make network requests.
Can I crop a circular profile photo?
Yes. Choose Circle and export PNG or WebP to preserve transparent corners. JPG does not support transparency.
Can I set exact pixel dimensions?
Yes. Enter positive whole-number output width and height in pixels.
Can I convert to AVIF?
Only if your browser supports AVIF encoding. If not, choose PNG, JPG or WebP.
Does target KB guarantee an exact size?
No. The tool adjusts quality to approach the target, but exact size cannot be guaranteed for every image and format.
